MOOT COURT COMPETITIONS

Mooting activity in the National Law Schools has emerged as an integral component of legal learning in recent times. Efforts have been taken to give adequate orientation to the Ist year B.A.,LL.B.(Hons.) students of TNNLS to train them in the art of advocacy. Mr.R.S. Diwakar and Mr. Naveen Kumar Murthy practicing Advocates of High Court of Madras and former mooters of the School Of Excellence in Law, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai who won prizes in several National and International moot court competitions, have conducted Motivation-cum-Orientation programme to the students of TNNLS on 30.09.2013 and 10.10.2013 respectively which enthused our students to enroll in large number to participate in the internal selection. With their assistance, two teams have been selected to represent in the TNNLS, Tiruchirappalli.

MOOTING :

Moot court is a law school activity and competition during which students participate in the preparation and arguing of cases in front of judges. The case and sides are selected beforehand, and students are given a set amount of time to prepare for the eventual trial.Moot Court can be quite useful, as you'll become increasingly more comfortable formulating arguments and expressing them in front of judges, essential skills for any attorney. If you feel that your public speaking skills need some work, Moot Court is a great place to hone them. Moot Court can also provide a unique bonding experience for you and your team and give you a mini-support system during law school.

OUR PARTICIPATION :

TNNLS is very happy and readily promote mooting among the students. The college has taken various steps to promote mooting; two students of NLSIU, Bangalore, Sidhant and Nimoy have conducted a workshop in the campus, to create interest among the first years, to participate in mooting, which turned out to be successful as we could see many first year participants in the internal moot competition.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The College conducts an internal moot court competition, which is open for all the students, creating a platform to give it a shot before representing the college in the national rounds, and to know where exactly they stand. Based on the ranking in this internal moot competition they teams are allotted. We have conducted our first IMC successfully on the 11th and 12th of September.
